GOLF

The golf center on the outskirts of the city, specifically in Stanežiče, offers pleasant recreation and is intended for all generations of golfers, Ljubljana club golf schools, and beginners in the sport. The course has two artificial turf practice greens and nine short holes (pitch and putt), with distances ranging from 45 to 155 meters. More experienced players are also welcome, as they can practice their short game. At one of the longest driving ranges in Slovenia, allowing for shots of up to 300 meters, long game practice is also possible. The range is partially covered and can accommodate up to 25 players simultaneously.

The facility was built as part of the “Youth Golf Center Stanežiče” project, co-financed by the Sports Foundation of the Republic of Slovenia and the public institute Šport Ljubljana. The decision to build the facility was driven by the fact that none of the golf courses in the Ljubljana area offered services primarily intended for younger players. Another reason lies in the increasing interest in golf in Ljubljana and Slovenia, with the country boasting several successful young golfers.

Beginner golf courses are available as part of the Slovenia Plays Golf project, along with beginner courses for students, intermediate courses, training sessions for retirees, and holiday programs for children. The Golf Center Stanežiče also hosts golf tournaments.

FOOTGOLF

Every Tuesday from 4 PM onward, Golf Center Stanežiče dedicates its course to Footgolf. This is a new, attractive sport that combines football and golf. Players use a football instead of a golf ball, which they kick (as in football) and aim at a hole (as in golf), though in this case, the hole has a diameter of about 50 cm. Since a football cannot be kicked as far as a golf ball can be hit, the distances between holes are shorter than in traditional golf. Compared to golf, the game is faster, more accessible, and does not require expensive equipment.

Footgolf must be booked in advance, as the course needs to be adjusted for this purpose. It can be played solo or in groups of up to four players. The game takes about an hour and a half, depending on the pace of play. Suitable sports footwear for the game includes turf shoes or similar.
