STOŽICE ARENA

STOŽICE ARENA

The most modern and largest sports arena in the country.

The arena is the largest and most modern in the country and is capable of hosting a variety of major sporting and cultural events, such as concerts, shows, congresses, banquets, equestrian events, circus performances, and motorcycle events. It has played host to a number of top artists, including some of the biggest names in the music industry, such as One Republic, 2Cellos, Michael Bublé, Andrea Bocelli, and Rammstein.

The seats are located on three levels of the shell-shaped arena and the stands are divided into three levels (green level, VIP level, and red level). The parquet surface has a size of 1,150 m2 and the maximum dimension of the usable flat concrete surface is 72 m × 45 m. The arena is illuminated by 124 floodlights. Each of them can be controlled individually, and the illumination power and orientation can be adjusted to each of them. The space for disabled persons in wheelchairs is located by the railing above Stand B. There are 49 spaces available, with seats in the back row of Stand B for companions. There is also a small warm-up hall in the lower level of the Stožice Arena, which hosts a variety of small, mainly sporting, events throughout the year, and is also used for training by both home clubs. The Stožice Arena is home to KK Olimpija (Olimpija Basketball Club), RK Krim Mercator (Krim Handball Club) and the Slovenian national teams of various sports.

In addition to the two halls, there are more than 200 different spaces throughout the facility, including changing rooms, offices, a fitness room, a press room, a room for firefighters and police, a kitchen, a catering area, a doping control room, a medical room, two reception areas, and outlets for ticket sales, promotional items, and food & beverages.

The Stožice Arena had its grand opening with a basketball match between Slovenia and Spain on 10 August 2010, and the first cultural event filled the Arena less than two months later, with a performance by the famous opera singer José Carreras.
