On the site of the legendary Ilirija Swimming Pool, a modern and energy-efficient Ilirija Sports Centre was built in 2025, combining a rich tradition with innovative facilities for training and competitions. The renovated facade of this cultural heritage site preserves the historical character of the building, and above the entrance, visitors are once again greeted by a replica of the famous “Kopalke” statue, created by students Denis Vučko and Denis Dražetić under the mentorship of Professor Matjaž Počivavšek. The original statue, created in 1942 by France Gorše, was stolen in 2007.
The new multifunctional swimming and sports center is primarily intended for sports clubs from Ljubljana and the surrounding area, Slovenian national teams, as well as for hosting both domestic and international water sports competitions.
Access to the training pool is provided for people with reduced mobility.
At the Športni center Ilirija, persons with disabilities have access to an outdoor children’s pool with a depth of 80 cm, while the indoor 25-metre pool is equipped with a lift, enabling direct and safe access to the water. An important addition is the installation of ramps in the indoor transitional footbath areas, allowing passage for wheelchairs, including electric wheelchairs.

The outdoor area of the center offers a multifunctional court, a beach volleyball court, outdoor fitness equipment for exercising in the open air, an athletic track, a paddling pool (100,25 m², depth: 0 – 23 cm), and a children’s pool (120 m², depth: 85 cm).

It includes a bridge that allows the pool to be divided into two 25-meter sections.

Information for swimmers: To ensure the timely closure of the pool, lifeguards will ask swimmers to leave the pools at least 15 minutes before closing time.
