The small and large halls were constructed as part of the Tivoli Hall complex as far back as 1965, when they hosted their very first events: a concert by Louis Armstrong and the World Table Tennis Championships (SPENT). In 2015, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Tivoli Hall. Over its rich history, Tivoli Hall has welcomed some of the most prestigious international sporting events, including World and European Championships in basketball, ice hockey, gymnastics, table tennis, and figure skating. A brief overview of the hall’s history can be found at the following link.
The Small Hall spans 3,000 m² and can accommodate up to 4,500 spectators. It is primarily dedicated to ball sports. The hall also houses the offices of various sports clubs, national sports federations, and Ljubljana’s local sports organisations. It is fully equipped with all necessary facilities for hosting major sporting events, including office spaces, commentary booths and studios for radio and television crews, VIP lounges, changing rooms, storage areas, and two cafés.
In addition to serving major Ljubljana sports clubs, Tivoli also plays a vital role in recreational sport. Each year, hundreds of thousands of recreational athletes visit the complex, along with schoolchildren from Ljubljana and the surrounding areas. Winter days in Ljubljana are even more enjoyable thanks to the outdoor skating rink, where recreational skaters add life and joy to the colder months.
